A set of twenty posters printed on a Risograph printer were designed after careful research of the neighborhood in Houston, Texas called Montrose. After research a word best describing this neighborhood was chosen and a lettering style was developed that fits well with the history of the community living in Montrose. Illustrations of currently open and foreclosed by gentrification business signs and architectural design were added for a more familiar and nostalgic feel for those who know or remember the area well.
2019
After researching the neighborhood online, a walk through Montrose helped find the right tone of illustration for it. Drawn during my walk, in a fast and rigid manner to showcase its hectic nightlife and the constant change as gentrification comes into Montrose.
Lettering choice was developed from a grungy beginning that lead to a more fun and welcoming forms.
